The Tiles
How many tiles are in each set?
Each set includes 160 tiles total: 36 Dots (1-9), 36 Bams (1-9), 36 Craks (1-9), 16 Winds (N, E, W, S), 12 Dragons (Crak, Bam, Soap), 8 Flowers, 10 Jokers, and 6 Blank tiles.
What material are the tiles made from?
Our tiles are acrylic with a resin finish, crafted in a 4-layer construction for a comfortable weight and satisfying feel during play.
What is included with each tile set?
160 tiles, a vegan leather carrying bag, and a matching dice pouch.
Are the tiles tournament size?
They measure 1.25" tall by 0.8" wide in our signature 4-layer construction, with engraved details for clarity and long-lasting quality.

The Mats
What size are the mats?
All mats measure 31.5 x 31.5 inches, providing a spacious square playing surface for American Mahjong.
What is included with each mat?
Each mat includes a collection-specific canvas carrying bag for easy storage and travel.
Are the mats folded or rolled?
Our latest version mats ship rolled. Earlier versions were folded, if you bought a folded mat, a quick fix is to place it in a dryer with a damp towel on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes.
Are the mats non-slip?
Yes, all mats feature a textured rubber backing to keep them securely in place on tables and game surfaces.
Is the watercolor design intentional?
Yes, the soft color washes and organic shapes are deliberate artistic design elements giving each mat a distinctive hand-painted aesthetic.
Will you make larger mat sizes (e.g. 33x33)?
Not at this time but we appreciate the feedback and will keep it in mind as we grow.
Will you offer mats without wording?
Yes! We are releasing a no-wording version of our mats very soon. Stay tuned for the launch.
Ordering & Shipping
Where can I buy your products?
All Mahjong Atelier products are available exclusively on Amazon. You can shop our full collection here.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently we only ship within the United States via Amazon Prime.
Why does my delivery date keep changing?
As an FBA seller, Amazon manages all fulfillment. Amazon frequently updates estimated delivery dates as inventory moves through their network. You'll receive a shipping notification the moment your order is fulfilled.
Do you offer pre-orders?
Not at this time. We sell exclusively through Amazon and do not offer pre-orders.
Restocks
When will tiles be back in stock?
We are actively restocking and expect new inventory to be available on Amazon within the next few weeks.
How can I be notified when items are back in stock?
Click the Follow button on our Amazon store page to receive automatic alerts. You can also follow us on Instagram @mahjong_atelier with notifications turned on, and sign up for our mailing list on our homepage.
Are these limited runs?
No, our collections are not limited runs. We are committed to keeping the full collection available and restocking regularly in larger quantities.
Returns & Warranty
Why are some tile listings marked as final sale?
Final sale policies on tile sets (particularly darker, tortoise, or exotic materials) are standard across premium mahjong brands, but please know we stand fully behind every product. If you ever have an issue, reach out to us directly and we will make it right. Important note: if your order arrives damaged or defective, this does not affect your right to a refund. You can open a return request through Amazon for damaged goods and receive a full refund regardless of the final sale designation.
What if I receive a damaged or defective product?
Please inspect your tiles upon delivery and reach out to us directly at contact@mahjongatelier.com within 7 days of delivery if you find any issues. Photos of the affected tiles are required. We will ensure you are taken care of for any genuine manufacturing defects identified upon inspection. You can also process a return directly through Amazon by opening a return request for damaged goods, which will give you a full refund regardless of any final sale designation.
What if I receive the wrong product?
Please process a return through Amazon for a full refund. Before returning, gently peel off the Amazon barcode sticker on the product box so only our original Mahjong Atelier barcode remains visible. This helps Amazon correctly identify the product when it is returned.
Care & Use
How do I remove creases from my mat?
Place the mat in a dryer with a damp towel on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes. The creases will smooth out beautifully.
How do I care for my tiles?
Before your first play, we recommend gently wiping each tile with a damp microfiber cloth. For day-to-day care, continue wiping with a soft, dry microfiber cloth and avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. If any minor surface wear appears over time, a small amount of acrylic polish (such as Novus #2) buffed with a soft cloth will restore the original luster.
Why do my tiles appear slightly scratched when I first receive them?
Acrylic is a soft material and light surface residue or minor marks can sometimes appear during production and shipping. These usually come off easily with a damp microfiber cloth. For more persistent marks over time, a small amount of acrylic polish (such as Novus #2) buffed gently with a soft cloth will bring the tiles back to their original luster.
How should I store my mat and tiles?
Both come with carrying bags designed for easy storage and travel. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve the artwork.
